Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Police stated they were alerted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking political figure stated the incident made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
